Spartan Garden
Our flagship project is the Spartan Garden, a 20,000 square foot garden in partnership with Sandburg Middle School in Glendora, California. Planned to be completed in phases, at the completion of the project, the Spartan Garden is expected to include: an outdoor classroom for hands-on demonstrations, workshops, and more, 25+ raised planter beds for a variety of crops and produce, a natural sweetener patch with sugarcane, a small tree orchard, a hydroponics system, and a small greenhouse. The garden will serve as a hands-on educational experience for the community to come together and connect with one another and the Earth while partaking in a healthy, sustainable activity that will directly benefit themselves and the community at large. Below are some renderings designed by Mike Thompson as well as an in-depth proposal of the project.
If you would like to support the garden, please consider donating using the donate button below, or by dropping off donations directly at Sandburg Middle School (address below). If you would like to get involved with the garden, feel free to reach out to volunteer@plants4thepeople.org.
